Finals week is over...

I am so glad that finals week is over. I didn't get a chance to post about what we did for the Thanksgiving holiday this year. Falisha invited us out to her house and we were lucky enough to be able to go. My mom and dad made the trek out to her house too, so we were all together for the big feast. We snapped a quick pic of all of us while were out there. I have plenty more pics of the trip since we drove...which I don't think I will willingly do ever again. It took almost 20 hours to get there. Later this week I will post the pics from our trip...

Holidays...

Holidays have a way of bring the "flu" around to just about everyone. I have been so careful to keep up on my vitamins and get the flu shot and lysol wipe my desk at work everyday and wash my hands and all the "precautions" we are told to do so that we don't spread the germs. And here it is one day before we are supposed to leave for Oklahoma and I come down with laryngitis and bronchitis. I can't talk, and when I can talk, I am coughing my head off. I'm trying to finish up school projects and pack and get all the last minute arrangements made for all the animals, but all I really want to do is get in bed with a bottle of cough syrup and a box of tissues and sleep through Thanksgiving. Thank goodness I have an awesome manager who sent me home the minute that she heard my voice, or lack of voice, so I don't have work to worry about for a week. Now that I have vented about my woes of life, I really am excited to eat lots of food for Thanksgiving. And see my family that I haven't seen for a few months at least and some of them a while longer than that. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

Halloween stuff...

I know that this is a few days late, but better late than never. We went to Frightmares at Lagoon on Halloween night and had a blast. We invited our friends that live just down the street to go with us. I thought that it was going to be freezing so we packed sweaters, gloves, coats, and scarves but it really wasn't that bad. We ended up just wearing our sweatshirts.

The lines were not long at all, so we rode every ride at least twice. Guy and Shannon wouldn't ride the Wild Mouse with me and Jamie so we rode it by ourselves.

We couldn't pass up getting cotton candy. And we were pretending to be "Lady and the Tramp", but with cotton candy.

This is what Guy dressed up for Halloween as. I didn't get a picture of my shirt close up, but that was my whole costume. It was a glow in the dark picture of a skeleton walking a skeleton weiner dog. It was so cute.

Work Halloween party...

We had a little Halloween party at work on Wednesday...yeah a few days early, but it was fun. Everyone brought treats and we ate and ate all day. This is a pic of the girls and one boy that work during the day.

And here are the few of us that work during the evening. Happy Halloween!!!

Guy's new toy...

Guy has been obsessively looking on ksl and auto trader for a new truck. Well, not exactly new, but new to him. He found a black one that he really wanted, and that was a great price, but when he called, the owner had just sold it the day before. So he kept looking and looking and found one in Heber. So we went there for a day trip today to check it out. First we had to fill our bellies with delicious food from Granny's. My boss at work highly recommended it and now I highly recommend it too. Don't leave Heber without eating there.

Then off to the house where the new truck lived. We took it for a test drive, and Guy looked it over and even had to put it in 4-wheel drive just in case. It passed the test and we bought it.

This is a very happy boy driving his new toy.

On the way back to Logan from Heber we passed this rock formation on the side of the highway. It is called Devil's Slide, and I think it is crazy looking. So we jumped off the highway just long enough to snap a pic.

New Heater...

So we bought a space heater to go in our room because it is so flippin' cold up here in Logan. We really love it, but I think that Dallie loves it way more than us. This is where she lays 24/7, except when she is outside or beating Spike up. But even then, she doesn't hardly let the heater out of her site.

Snow day and dogs...

My dogs love to look out the upstairs window to see if anything is in their yard. This morning Jessica was in the way but that didn't stop them from looking out the window.

It snowed at our house last night. Not very much, but enough to make it way colder than I would like it to be.

Dallie is looking outside and telling me that she doesn't want to go out there.

Jessica did her nails in the theme Corpse Bride. I think or maybe it is Nightmare Before Christmas, well either way it took her a long time.

Date Night...

Sorry that these pics are so dark, I had some couple that we didn't know take these pics and apparently the flash wasn't on. So I didn't notice until it was too late that the pics turned out bad. Anyways, if you are wondering why I posted the same pic twice on this post, then look a little closer.

Look at Guy if you still haven't figured it out. He had his sunglasses on for the first pic. What a punk...so we had to take a second one.
We have been going out on Saturday nights with this couple we met in our ward and we have had so much fun. They like alot of the same things that we do, so we get along really well. Thanks for being our friends you two. We ate at the Texas Roadhouse, which just barely opened up here a few weeks ago. It was really packed with people in there and the food was delicious. Before we went to eat, we tried going to a haunted house, but couldn't find it, so we just ate instead.

Apple Pie...

I forgot to put a pic of my apple pie that I made. It was so good that I had to put 3 pics up to show how good it was. Enjoy!!!

Apple Making Weekend...

My neighbor has a few apple tree's in her backyard and has been giving me the wormy apples to feed to my horses (which they love). Then the other day she said that she wasn't going to have any time to put up the good apples that she picked and asked if I wanted them. Well at first I was thinking that I don't have any time either, but then I thought, well they are FREE. So I got all my stuff together and went to work washing and peeling and coring and cooking and stirring and filling and cleaning.

And bottling and peeling and cleaning and coring and cooking and filling and on and on an on. I couldn't believe how much work it was to make this stuff.
I was sure glad that my friend down the street let me borrow this apple peeler and corer. It was so handy.

I made many bottles of apple pie filling and I even bought a crust and made a pie during all this bottling action going on. It was so delicious.

And of course, we tried our hand at applesauce too. It turned out way good, but kind of thick. I still have apples that need to be made into something, but I'm not sure if I want to go through all that work again.

A little late...

I am a little late, but it was our anniversary on the 15th. We were both busy with school, but Guy found some time in the middle of the day to take me to lunch. Thanks dude...also he gave me the cutest cowgirl belt and a mane brush for my horses. Just what I was needing. Now for the good part...brace yourself, and Guy will probably be so mad that I posted this, but oh well. I got him a wok for our anniversary...yeah a wok. He loves cooking and when I saw it, I couldn't resist getting it for him.

First week of school...

Well, we are almost through the first week of school and we are still barely alive. I'll update you more later.

You are looking at the new girls camp director...

Well I don't really know where to start cause there are alot of details to this story, but the short version is....I'm the camp director for our ward. I know...I was thinking the same things. 1) I'm too young...2) I don't have enough time...3) I already have a calling...4)Do I really know how to do this...and on and on. So anyway tonight we had our first certification activity to finish up certification for this years camp and kind of get started on the right foot for next summer. I was in such a rush and kind of stressed today so I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pics. But next time the young women better watch out cause they are so my next blog victims. My husband, dogs, and yard are about sick of being blogged about. So anyway....we made a fire, and yes it actually started up just fine. While the fire was burning down a bit, we did skits about the YW values and they were absolutely hilarious. The girls were so creative with all of the props that I brought for them to use. Then we roasted marshmellows and talked about all the yummy desserts that are fun to make around the campfire. We had a little more daylight, so we played the cup game with our water cups. And if you don't know what that is, then obviously your girlscamp days weren't as fun as mine. I need more ideas and to be reminded of all of the stuff that we did at girls camp that made it fun, so give me all your idea's people...

Novel (sorry)

I haven't had any time to update for a while cause I have been so busy with life in general that it really hasn't even crossed my mind. We finally talked our landlord into letting us use the horse corrals in the back of the property...yeah they didn't want us to use them cause our horses would destroy the weeds that were growing in the corrals. Can you tell that they aren't really horse people. Anyway...we brought up Minnie and Ellie to live with us for a while. They love it so far, and Guy is actually riding with me pretty much every day. Minnie takes good care of him and is teaching him lots of stuff. Guy is finally getting riding lessons out of me, and I do have to say that I don't really think that I am that great of a teacher. It kind of sounds like this: "Guy: How do you get the horse to trot? Sabrina: Just cluck at her." Like Guy even knows how to sit in the saddle or even stop for that matter. Oh well, he seems to be having fun and it is great to have someone to ride with once in a while. He does keep my horse in shape...kind of. I have started Ellie into my barrel racing training program...if I can even call it that. Sounds good anyway, so she is doing so great. Last year when I worked her on the barrels, it didn't really go that well. She would get crazy and throw a fit and basically stop working at all. To say the least, I was frustrated at the end of the summer last year cause she wasn't getting what I was trying to teach her. So this summer, I started her slow on the barrels cause I didn't want to run into any fights or jams. She is doing so much better, I kind of think that she is being able to handle it better cause she is more mature. I can show her something and she wants to learn more and actually try to do what it is that I want her to do. Okay, now that you are bored to death with that, I will bore you more and tell you about my garden. At the beginning of every summer, and even before that, I get bigger and better plans in my head about how I want my garden to be. Well this summer was like all the rest, except bigger. I love growing a garden and think its all great and dandy until weeds start taking over. Yeah, the weeds have been extremely bad this year and I have not been able to stay on top of them. Oh well...maybe next year. Also there has been a particular bug that has been very annoying to me. I can do spiders and grasshoppers...but not earwigs. I hate earwigs and they have been so bad this year. Not only in my garden, but in my house. Guy sprayed for them a couple weeks ago and it got better, but I still see a few every now and then. The grossest(if that is even a real word) earwig thing that has happened to me was the other day. I got a cup out of the cupboard and went to the fridge to get ice to put in the cup. I pushed the cup under the ice dispenser and out came ice and any earwig. That was almost the last straw for me. I am drinking bottled water now because I don't want to have another earwig incident until I forget about it. Now onto the really great part about having a garden...I always have fresh produce. I have been making hashbrowns straight from the garden pretty much every morning for the past couple of weeks. Today I bottled up some green beans and I hope they turn out good cause I have way more green beans on my bushes waiting to be picked. My peppers are getting bigger each day and I can't wait to make homemade salsa. Well, now that I written more than necessary, I will end and I promise to put more pics than words next time.

Day 3 and 4....coming home

Guy was so excited to see that this sign...he was going to be able to drive fast because it was required, not because he was crazy. Then he realized that this was in Canada and meant kilometers per hour not miles per hour. So in all reality it was slower than our freeways. That's okay with me cause I would rather be a little on the slower side anyhow.

After so many hours in the car, you get a little bored. I took lots of games and puzzle books and reading books and coupons to clip, but that will only keep you entertained for so many hours. I resorted to playing with my food. Guy couldn't help but laugh and take a quick pic.

This was what Canada mostly looked like from the view out my window. Wheat fields for as far as you could see. We didn't really like not being able to see mountains. When the sun went down at about 9pm, it was light outside for a few more hours because there weren't any mountains to hide the light.

On our way back to the states, we stopped at the Cardston temple. It was so pretty...an older gentleman stopped to talk to us and point out three owls sitting in the windows of the temple. I couldn't believe it...usually it is pretty rare to see one owl let alone three together.

Yeah...finally back into our own country...Montana was beautiful. We navigated our way to Glacier National Park so that we could see some more stuff. The park wasn't too busy so we could make as many stops as we wanted to. And of course we stopped and took lots of pics. We are getting great at using our timer on the camera so that we both can be in the pics.
A little farther down, we saw a mountain goat. Everyone around us was snapping pics like crazy. I couldn't believe that people thought it was tame enough to be around. I thought that it would probably be the same way if it were a bear. The goat could have hurt someone, but that didn't matter, they were getting the best pics.

Well, we had a great time in Glacier and finally got to the end of the park. We drove a bit farther and stayed in a hotel. The next day we drove home and stopped at a museum somewhere along the way. I can't remember what city or state it was in. Oh well, we had fun looking around the old equipment and goofing around. And if you look real close, you can see that I am wearing my George Strait t-shirt that I got at the concert. I am proud of that shirt, I stood in line for an hour trying to buy it.

The main event...

We still had plenty of time to kill waiting for the doors to open so we took pics of us in front of the building. We still couldn't believe that we were going to a George Strait Concert. It was awesome...

And another pic...look at all the people waiting around to get in. When we got inside, there were so many people. It is amazing how many people they can stuff into one building and still function. Also this picture makes me realize how much shorter I am than Guy...look at how much of the pic he takes up and then look at how much of the pic I take up. Huge difference...

And finally the concert started...on our tickets it said that camera's were not allowed, but once it started, everyone was snapping pics. It was one flash after another, so I whipped my camera out...if everyone else was going to break the rules, then I wasn't going to miss out on my chance to have my own pic of my favorite country singer ever.

You will probably have to stop my blog music to listen to the music on this video. Its not great, but good enough for me.

And the rest of the trip...day 2

We were bored waiting for the rodeo to finally start. It seemed like forever before they opened the first gate. But it was so worth it...we loved every minute of one of the biggest rodeo's on the circuit.

I caught a snap shot of the cowboys with their hats off while they sang the Canadian National Anthem. Can't say I have ever heard that before or will ever again...The grand entry show was a huge deal and they had fireworks and queens from all over. Flags racing around the arena and then all the cowboys and cowgirls ran into the arena to form a horseshoe shape. It was really fun to watch.

After the excitement of the rodeo, we ran down to the table they had set up in front of the arena where all the winners of that days events would be signing autographs. I borrowed Guy's hat and had Stran Smith sign the brim. Guy took a pic while we posed. If anyone doesn't know who this cowboy is, then I will educate you. He is the 2008 world champion calf roper...so there you have it.

And then we had a few hours to kill before the main event...George Strait of course. So we mosied around the fair and saw lots of animals and stuff. We couldn't resist taking turns putting our faces through this silly cut out of a John Deere tractor. I think that this was meant for kids, but we are kids in grown up bodies.

It looks like Guy was a little shy about putting his face through the hole very far. Thats okay dude...you still look silly enough. Thanks for the fun day at the fair.
